WHAT DOES EMBRACE THE CRY MEAN?
WE COINED THE PHRASE "EMBRACE THE CRY" WHEN WE OPENED IN 2013. If you have a child between the ages of approximately 9 months and 4 years, you will hear us use this phrase quite often at the studio. You will even see our clients use this in this group.
Learn it, Love it, Live it.
Chances are, at this age range, you will get tears although we as parents want the "perfect" photo. We truly try to make lemonade out of lemons and give you a lasting memory that you will enjoy for years to come. As parents of 6 and grandparents of 4, we know it's a rite of passage to get the crying pic for a couple of years so please arrive with a sense of humor! We do have some tricks depending on their age that our assistants will chat with you about it when you come in. To be perfectly honest, however, even with the tricks we use, there is no promise and the tears will more than likely happen anyway. Plus we have a fun contest at the end of the year.
With all of that said: There is a HUGE difference between a crying child that will just sit on Santa's lap and a child who is genuinely frightened. My crew and Santa are trained to see and know the difference and will advocate for that child. We will absolutely not push through an entire visit with a child that is trembling in terror. There is a time that it's not funny and we will not continue the session even if there are only 5 images to choose from. The intent is for them not to have a fear of Santa into their teens.
We will absolutely not accept requests to reshoot a family due to a crying child.
